Chaszey reached the
end of her rope and was more than ready to let go. That is, until she felt a tug
from the other end…
Someone, some thing, was not ready to let
Chaszey fall. Maybe it wasn't her time to check out. Perhaps she had a lot more
to do on this planet. Whatever the reason, she managed to pull herself up from
that dark pit of despair, and climb out into a brand new life -one she soon realized
she had the power to control.
A survivor of extraordinary circumstances,
Chaszey now thrives as a vibrant source of inspiration to others who have reached
the end of their rope. An in-demand speaker, her mission is to help others in
similar situations climb out of their darkness, and find the rewarding, meaningful
lives they were meant to live - especially when it feels impossible to do so.
Childhood Under Fire
Chaszey
had found herself at rock bottom more than once. Born in Switzerland to a harsh
and unloving mother, Chaszey questioned her existence as early as age 5. She had
plenty of reasons: her childhood was plagued by a series of debilitating health
problems, the abandonment of her father, and a mother who constantly reminded
her that she was an unwanted child. At 15, after years of being told she'd never
amount to anything, Chaszey attempted suicide with a handful of sleeping pills.
But clearly, she wasn't ready to go. Something in her brain insisted she get up,
and stumble her way to a hospital.
Chaszey survived, but in spite of
her desperate cry for help, no loving arms awaited her at home. Instead, her mom
kicked her out of the house. Fortunately, her near-death experience had strengthened
Chaszey, who at her young age, found work, and a place to live in a horse stable.
Life was still very hard, but she was free, and armed with a new respect for being
alive that helped guide her along an often murky and difficult path.
Marriage and Motherhood
After a series
of other odd jobs and temporary living situations, Chaszey mustered up her resources
and courage, and immigrated to the United States. There, at age 25, she met a
man and fell in love, which she thought would finally bring her happiness.
The future looked bright, for a while anyway. But eventually, darkness began
seeping back in to her life. Chronic health problems, possibly stemming from the
cortisone she was given until she was a teenager, continued to afflict her. At
one point, she needed three emergency surgeries in a two week period, and almost
died again, this time from an overdose of anesthesia. And, once again, the doctors
managed to resuscitate her.
Soon after, she got pregnant, and later
that year, gave birth to her daughter, which should have been a highlight of her
life. Instead, a severe case of postpartum depression set in, followed by a new
series of physical ailments. When an infectious disease specialist decided to
test for lymphoma and hepatitis, she suggested Chaszey's illness might be fatal.
That meant Chaszey would only have a few weeks to a few months to live, and would
not see her beloved daughter grow up.
But when the test results came
back negative, Chaszey had an epiphany: Three times, she had faced the prospect
of death, and each time, it had evaded her. This time, she got the message, loud
and clear: she was meant to be here, and she had work to do.
Unlocking
Life's Potential
Chaszey has since completely turned her life
around; she left a hopeless marriage, changed her eating and exercise habits,
dropped from a size 18 to a size 6, started a meaningful new business, and ultimately,
found the life she had wanted all along. Determined to help others do the same,
she shares her hard-earned secrets in her series of CDs, ebooks, speaking engagements,
and upcoming print books.
"I'm here to show how I learned to shed my
anger, my frustration, and my desire to give up on life more than once," she says.
"I have come from a place of despair to a place of self-respect, health, happiness,
and love. I want to help others find the power within them to do the same."
